Tackle

If you want your rigs to blend in make them a light in colour as possible, the Korda 'Gravel' colour is perfect because our lakebed is so light in colour.

A full range of Korda terminal tackle, plus Spods, Markers, Adrenaline, leaders etc is available along with our own 'special' coated leads. These leads have been coated in a special 'mix' to make them far lighter than standard leads, we recommend you purchase a few to help your whole rig blend in.

Hiding your line is essential because the water is deep so line angles are often steep so much of line is off the lakebed. The water is also clear, sometimes you can see the bottom in 10ft so back leads and flying back leads are a must, as well as super slack lines. We have backleads and flying back leads in stock in case you haven't brought your own. These fish are mega pressured and have been for years, they know what line is so do your best to hide it, we don't recommend braided leaders or braided mainlines for this reason, although we wont stop you using them providing it is responsibly, ie not using 80lb braid!

You will see in our rules that Barbless hooks must be used, this is to help a lost fish get away from the end rig as easily as possible, lost fish often go for cover, in our case trees, if they get tangled I the trees on barbed hooks they can die, and if the hook stays in the fish will often start picking up other lines. Our model for the success of barbless hooks is Maison Du Lac Bleue, their fish have immaculate mouths and they have always had a barbless rule. When you catch a trailer there it always has a barbed hook in its mouth, and, the mouth if often damaged, this is proof enough. If you keep a tight line you should not loose any on barbless, our favourite hook is a size 6 Wide Gape B, its super strong and thicker in the wire than the barbed version which helps it stay in, the curved point helps even more. Avoid small (size 8 and smaller) fine wire straight pointed hooks, they can tear out of the huge mouths our big fish have. Many of our customers have not scaled their tackle up for Gigantica, size 10 hooks are OK on your local syndicate but they are not strong enough for landing a huge fish and they can often pull out because so little is embedded.

Prices of all the kit are identical to UK prices but we ask you to pay in Euros wherever possible. Tackle must be paid for at the time you take it.

We have 2 bedchairs available for hire for those people who are pushed for space, a weeks rental is 15 euro.
