It seems that China has been using its vast financial capabilities to engage other countries in, what experts call, debt-trap diplomacy. Hungary’s political and economic openness has allowed China to partially mitigate the negative effects of its rivalry with the EU. China's leader, Xi Jinping, is expected to visit Europe in May, and despite the stops not being official yet, many expect him to visit France, Serbia and Hungary.
