Nanomaterials (matter at the atomic and molecular scale) have become the building blocks of new technologies that can help provide society with energy and water and facilitate the creation of new medicines. However, these materials may also create unforeseen challenges to the well-being of our environment and our health. What is being done to ensure that these nanomaterials will not be the next asbestos or the next DDT?
