The easiest way to describe Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is that it’s a game out of balance. It’s out of balance with it’s levelling, it’s out of balance with its combat, and most of all, it’s out of balance with its fans. Coming off the success that Ubisoft Montreal had secured with Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was sure to be a success. After all, the up and coming trend of action role-playing games had proven very successful for games such as The Witcher 3 and Horizon: Zero Dawn- why not let Assassin’s Creed throw its hat in the ring? That question has been the circle of debate for the past six months now- can Assassin’s Creed be an RPG? Can the game that was previously renowned for its stealth mechanics and a loose basis in historically accuracy take the step to be a full-blown fantasy action game? And even if it can do this- does it do it well? I aim to answer all of these questions and more in the video to follow, a video I’ve put a lot of effort and thought into, not to mention slogging through this nearly 100-hour experience, so a like would be very appreciated.
