Nuno Tavares scores a wonder goal in Marseille debut, Tavares outstanding debut for Marseille |

Nuno Tavares was signed from the Portughese side Benfica last summer for a fees of 6.8 million Euros. He has been part of Arteta’s plans last season, he managed to be in the team sheet at the expense of injured Kieran Tierney. He had a promising start to his North London career as he started 13 matches for Arsenal last season. As the games gone by, the lack of experience has slowly caught him. Tavares couldn’t match the level of concentration required to face the later stages of the premier league season as the opposition teams targeted the lack of composure of the Arsenal left back. Gunners fans could see the potential in Nuno Tavares, but he requires the experience of a full season under his belt to clearly nail down his spot in this young Arsenal team.
Tavares was loaned out to the French club for the coming full season without the option of a buyout clause. He became the third Arsenal player to be loaned out to the French club in recent seasons following Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba. Marseille has been qualified for the Champions league as they were in the runners up position in league 1 last season. Earlier, Tavares was linked with a loan move to Atlanta, but the move fell through and failed to materialise due to the terms involved in the deal. Mikel Arteta was very clear in his statement in the media about the Portuguese under 21 left back. Since Arsenal has bought in Zinchenko from the champions Mancity, the gunners would have the option of two quality left backs in Kieran Tierney and Zinchenko. It would be difficult for the former Benfica player, to get any game time this season with the gunners team. Hence it would make sense to send him on a loan for this season, he could be in the playing eleven for the French league 1 team. This would be beneficial for his development as in the case of William Saliba, who managed to get the young player of the season award for Marseille, and further raised a strong case for himself to start for the London team. Marseille faced Reims for the League 1 season opener last weekend. He had a dream start to his loan spell at the Olympique de Marseille stadium. Tavares received the ball on the edge of Reims Penalty box and managed to put the opposition in a spot of bother with his tricky feet. He wriggled his way towards a promising position and send a cracking ground shot with his right foot. The effort towards the far right corner beaten the diving Reims goalkeeper to increase their leade. It was an astonishing display from the left back, the stadium erupted with the fellow Marseille players took the opportunity in congratulating him for the top notch effort. Tavares is blessed with his natural ability of speed and the physique required to be an important asset for Marseille. If he can deliver consistent performances in this season for the French team, he could creep back into Arteta’s plans for the coming seasons at the Eminates stadium. Reims scored a consolation goal with Arsenal loanee Floran balogun netting a headed goal for a losing cause. Reims losed the match conceding four goals in the season’s initial match. Let’s keep an eye for Balogun this season, whether he could create headlines with match winning performances for the French team, Reims. #afc #nunotavares #arsenalnews #tavares #arsenal #marseille #arsenalfans #arsenalfc #arsenallive #arsenaltransfernewstoday #arsenalnewsupdate #arsenalupdate #arsenaltransfernews #aftv #arteta #arsenalteam #curtisshawtv #troopz #arsenalnewstoday #arsenalnewsnow #arsenalnewstv #arsenalnewsfortoday |
