Russia's Defence ministry released video on Friday (January 13) it said showed army units during combat operations at frontline position close to the town of Vuhledar, in Ukraine's Donetsk region.
The footage shows soldiers launching mortars and self-propelled artillery guns firing. Vuhledar, a town of 14,000 people is currently under Ukrainian government control, and is 55 kilometres (34 miles) south-west of Donetsk city. For the Ukrainian military retaining control of Vuhledar is vital for any possible advance towards Mariupol which fell to Russian forces in May 2022.
