Limitations in resources for educators often result in the ignorance of the educated. Akash Patel makes a humorous and informative case for the use of anti-bias education to face the problem of stereotyping and cultural underexposure, even when money is low and time is limited.
Akash Patel is the Founder & President of the World Experiences Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has impacted thousands of educators and students in Oklahoma and abroad. Patel is a graduate research assistant at the University of Central Oklahoma, an international motivational speaker, diversity coach and educator. In December 2015, Patel’s nonprofit received the 2015 Oklahoma Human Rights Award in the chamber of the Oklahoma House of Representatives for promoting global citizenship in Oklahoma communities and for fighting racism and bigotry with anti-bias global education. Patel has over 8 years of international public speaking & education consulting/training experience. Patel speaks six languages & has traveled to over 30 countries. In his free time, Patel likes to read, play golf or volunteer. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
