Lévon Minassian (Duduk) - " They Have Taken the One I Love " |
|
== From an Armenian ..Imagine walking into an abandoned Armenian church in Western Armenia. You see the dirt on the floor, a beautiful structure built probably more than a thousand years ago on the verge of collapse. The voices of innocent women hiding in the church come to your ear. Their husbands were dragged out of their homes and killed in front of them. Or they saw their husbands being handcuffed and forced to march at gunpoint. These women had the ones they loved taken away from them. Imagine those men who were getting married, all of a sudden a group of Turkish officers on horse back ride through the wedding procession and kidnap the bride, they tear her clothes off and force her to dance naked, then they burn her alive and don't let her stop dancing until she is nothing but a burnt corpse. Imagine those innocent children who witnessed their father being dragged out of their home and shot dead on the spot and had witnessed their mother or siblings being raped, they had the ones that they loved taken away from them. My grandfather witnessed his father being dragged out of his home one night and being shot to death. He had the one he loved taken away from him. This song is dedicated to those innocent Armenians who had their loved ones taken away from them. Rest in peace my love .==
