Initially featured in the trailer for Machine Gun Kelly’s 2022 film of the same name), “Taurus” sees MGK merge his rock and rap styles in a manner reminiscent of his 2019 album Hotel Diablo. Interpolating aspects of Blue Foundation’s song “Eyes on Fire” while incorporating original lyrics, the song was first revealed on October 27, 2022 alongside the trailer it soundtracked. While the film debuted on November 18th, the song wasn’t itself released until the following Wednesday.

The song’s lyrical content runs parallel to its movie’s semi-autobiographical story of the pressures of fame and the impact it has on Machine Gun Kelly’s mental health. The haunting tone of the track is similar to his 2019 single “Glass House”, both of which feature close collaborator Naomi Wild and discuss the darker details of his mental health.
