ABOUT THE PROGRAM
As we go about our earthly lives, we barely notice the night sky. Even when we do, we see it as no more than a twinkling backdrop. We can hardly fathom the vastness of the universe that surrounds us. We float in this infinite cosmos “a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” (Carl Sagan). But does that mean we are insignificant? Do we matter in the cosmos? In his talk, Bhavesh will attempt to share a unique perspective of the vastness of the Cosmos and our place in it. Using easily accessible material from internet searches, Bhavesh attempts to present the material in a unique way that will leave us with a whole new sense of awe and appreciation of the scale and grandeur of the Cosmos. ABOUT THE PRESENTER Bhavesh is an entrepreneur based in Portland, Oregon, USA where he operates several UPS stores. He is a self-taught astronomer, passionately pursuing his interest in astronomy and cosmology. Neither a scientist nor student of Astronomy and Cosmology, he considers himself a gatherer of knowledge on these subjects. Bhavesh purchased his first telescope (with 15” mirror) in 2017 and last year, with his Astronomy friends, built a larger (with 24" mirror) telescope. He has published a Field Guide for advanced amateur astronomers as a tool for finding deep sky objects listed in an astronomical catalog (NGC – New General Catalog).
