Edward I, also known as Edward Longshanks and the Hammer of the Scots, was King of England from 1272 to 1307. He is arguably best known for fighting against the Scottish rebels William Wallace and Robert the Bruce and being one of England's greatest monarchs in history. In Mel Gibson's movie Braveheart he is played by Patrick McGoohan. In Netflix's Outlaw King he is played by Stephen Dillane who is best known for his role as Stannis Baratheon is Game of Thrones and Thomas Jefferson in John Adams 2008.
