Women Shifting the Technology Landscape in Africa (August 11, 2021) |
|
The Liu Institute Network for Africa (LINA) and the Collective for Gender+ in Research are happy to announce the second episode of an ongoing webinar series titled African Women’s Leadership: Resilience, Intelligence, and the Bedrock of Development. The second installment provides a forum to discuss gender equity and the role of women in Africa’s technology development agenda. This event features guest speakers Angela Oduor Lungati (Executive Director, Ushahidi), Amanda Obidike (Executive Director, STEMi Makers Africa) and Ethel Cofie (CEO & Founder, EDEL Technology Consulting). Moderated by Esther Ocheni with a special performance by Abena Green.
The LINA is a research-based network at UBC branching out of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, emerging from the need for a platform to bring together stakeholders within research and policy institutions to address policy issues in Africa. The Gender+ Collective is situated within UBC’s Office for Regional and International Community Engagement. This initiative works to promote a community for rich dialogue in which gender and other identity intersections, including but not limited to race, class, sexuality and ability, are considered when conducting research. |
