A study in the efficacy of the Indian education system, this talk by Dr Madhav Chavan questions the rationale behind the antiquated techniques and testing methodologies and proposes newer, more flexible alternatives for the future.
For the last 25 years, Mr Madhav Chavan has been working to bridge the gap between economically underserved students and the better placed, stewarding Indian education towards a more equitable reality. The co-founder and CEO of the educational non-profit organization Pratham, Madhav has been a transcendental figure of Indian society. A PhD in chemistry from Ohio State and former faculty at the University of Houston, he founded his organization under a UNICEF initiative and expanded its reach to two-thirds of India. Mr Chavan is the recipient of WISE Prize for Education, widely regarded as an equivalent of the Nobel. Named a 2014 Asia Game Changer by the Asia Society, the dedicated social activist, through his prolonged endeavours like the Read India Campaign, has helped over 4 Crore children gain access to contemporary standards of pedagogy, his intervention modules designed to work alongside government and private organizations alike.
