Don Brash heads to Waitangi: 'I'm going to listen' |
|
The former National Party leader, Don Brash, admits he's nervous to speak at Waitangi for the first time since mud was slung in his face 15 years ago. Dr Brash, who fronts the group Hobson's Pledge which opposes what it terms Māori favouritism, says he was surprised when Ngapuhi asked him to give a speech at the lower marae on Tuesday. Especially given his last Waitangi speech, in 2004, which ended with a young protestor hurling mud at him. The Minister for Regional Economic Development, Shane Jones, has a warning for Dr Brash.
