The holders fell behind early on after a rare error by Alisson gifted Gonçalo Guedes an easy goal.

But Liverpool fought back just before halftime, with Nunez equalizing with a clinical finish on a counterattack with an early cross majestically delivered by Alexander-Arnold.

Salah then gave the hosts the lead in the second half, but Wolves refused to back down and equalized in the final 25 minutes with a goal by the South Korean International Hwang Hee-Chan, who has now scored in two consecutive games against Liverpool at Anfield.

The match was also marked by the promising debut of Gakpo, who nearly provided an assist for Salah's goal and demonstrated his potential with some solid link-up play with Andy Robertson.

Later this month, Liverpool will have the chance to advance to the fourth round of the prestigious FA Cup in a replay against Wolves at Molineux.
