UFC 257 -- Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier: 2

video thumbnail
#ufc #sport #btsport The king is back! Conor McGregor's first appearance of 2021 sees the former two-division champion face dangerous lightweight legend Dustin Poirier in a fight sure to provide fireworks on Fight Island.

Poirier has won 10 fights since then, beating some of the best in the UFC, including Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway and Dan Hooker. McGregor went on to become the biggest star in UFC history, establishing himself as the first UFC fighter ever to hold two belts simultaneously.

Conor McGregor still has a Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch on his mind, though he acknowledges that the chances of it happening have greatly diminished.

The former UFC double champion said Thursday at the UFC 257 news conference that he considers there to be a great deal of unfinished business between himself and Nurmagomedov. But if Nurmagomedov wants to retire, McGregor said he'll have no choice but to move forward.

The Notorious’ breezed past Donald Cerrone last January in just 40 seconds in his comeback bout following his dramatic defeat to Khabib

their first meeting back in 2014, McGregor took less than two minutes to score a TKO victory. That fight took place at featherweight, but Poirier has come into his own as a lightweight, including a brief run as interim champion after a dominant win over Max Holloway. Poirier has gone on a 10-2 run since the loss to McGregor with one loss coming to Khabib Nurmagomedov, arguably the most dominant fighter in UFC history.

He bounced back from that defeat with a fight of the year contender against Dan Hooker last June to remind everyone just how deep the 155-pound division can be. McGregor, meanwhile, returned from his own extended absence last January with a quick TKO over Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone at welterweight. McGregor, in fact, has only competed at 155 pounds in UFC twice.

I’m super excited for this fight. I genuinely can’t pick a winner! I constantly keep changing my mind. As always I massively appreciate all the support. Please see my playlist below.
