Taking a one week break before finishing up my discussion on Walter Brueggemann's Out of Babylon, I'm posting a lecture on Machiavelli's views on the biblical figure Moses, given in the classroom, Spring 2020, right before we went home for Covid lockdown. Machiavelli's views on and treatment of religion pave the way for the modern fact/value distinction that leads to the aggressive, me-first, and materialistic modern mentality that Brueggemann identifies write large as Babylon.
