About Dr. Mohan Raghavan
Dr. Mohan Raghavan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering IIT, Hyderabad. Teaching and researching broadly in the area of computational neuroscience and motor systems, his very well-equipped lab is focused on building 3D multiscale multidisciplinary computational models of human movement machinery spread across the spinal cord and its integration with the musculoskeletal systems. He is also the Founder and Co-Head of the Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship at IITHyderabad where his work involves in bringing together academic research, design thinking methodologies, and healthcare technologies for the benefit of society. Relatively he has mentored several healthcare start-ups. He owns a Post-Doctoral Fellow at National Centre for Biological Sciences-TIFR, Bangalore, and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience at IISc, Bangalore. His professional experience includes 7 years at Motorola India where he was a part of the team that developed the world’s first 3G mobile phone. His research interests include Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience, Computational Physiology and Visualization, and Biomedical Engineering. Apart from these Dr. Mohan Raghavan is passionate about Indology and researches Indic concepts using scientific methodologies. Over the past 20 years, he has delivered numerous lectures in English and Kannada on Indic culture and has also conducted various workshops on the scientific basis of Indic culture. He has contributed several articles to web journals and is a frequent writer in regional newspapers (Kannada). He is interested in writing short fictional stories that portray cultural themes in the contemporary context. His work includes a short story titled ‘One night stand in Hariharapuram’ published by Penguin as a part of the anthology ‘Love stories that touch the heart’.
