JSS 2008 National Conference: Jessica Cowan-Dewar, NEADS |
|
With support from BMO Capital Markets' Equity Through Education Program, the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) hosted 20 Job Search Strategies Forums for disabled post-secondary students and graduates between October 2005 and November 2009.
Based on the belief that a successful transition from school to work is critically important for their constituents, and that with enough opportunity they can pursue rewarding and meaningful careers, these interactive forums emphasized career transition issues such as self-identification and disclosure, resumé development, job searches, arranging workplace accommodations, and more. At the 2008 National Conference in Ottawa, NEADS' Researcher Jessica Cowan-Dewar delivered interim research findings on people with disabilities in the sciences and technologies.
