Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix is not a name that is well known today, but in ancient Rome, it was spoken with a mix of horror and revulsion. During his life, he seized ultimate power through civil war and terror. Then, as undisputed dictator, he published lists of enemies, and had them brutally hunted down and killed on the streets of Rome. Upon his death, he was nothing short of a monster.
