New Zealand finish their innings on 176/6 thanks to fifties from Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell scored 27 runs in the last over as it has powered the Kiwis to a very good total. New Zealand carry the momentum heading into the innings break and will be happier with their effort with the bat. After being asked to bat first New Zealand got off to a brilliant start thanks to Finn Allen. He did the bulk of scoring in the powerplay as he took on the Indian bowling upfront. He was looking good until Washington Sundar dismissed him on 35. Mark Chapman walked out to bat at three and departed without troubling the scorers courtesy of a one-handed stunning catch from Sundar. Glenn Phillips joined Devon Conway and led the recovery work. The spinners plugged the scoring rate in the middle overs. Conway was going nicely from one end but Phillips struggled at the other end and was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav on 17 in the 13th over. There was no stopping Conway at the other end as he played some beautiful strokes and brought up his fifty. He was well-supported by Daryl Mitchell from the other end. With the slog overs approaching Conway holed out in the deep on 52 while trying to up the ante. Daryl Mitchell teed off in the end and brought up his fifty. He smashed Arshdeep for 27 in the last over of the innings which helped New Zealand post 176 on the board. India picked up six wickets in total. Washington Sundar bowled beautifully and finished with figures of 2/22 in his four overs. The pacers went on a journey tonight whereas the spinners did a fine job to keep the lid on the scoring rate. It won't be easy to defend as we may see the dew settling on the outfield. Let's see how both sides respond. Don't go anywhere as India's chase begins shortly. That 27-run final over might just be the kind of momentum New Zealand were looking for after losing their way in the middle overs. They got off to a flier (37-0 after 4 overs) and were pegged back by a double-wicket over from Washington Sundar which also included a brilliant return catch. PITCH REPORT - Danny Morrison is pitchside. He says that the average first innings score here is 156 and the square boundaries are a bit over 60 meters with the straight boundaries being over 70 meters. Ajit Agarkar joins him and says that the pitch looks excellent and there's an even covering of grass. Adds that there will be help for the seamers early on and the dew factor will be crucial but the outfield is cut in such a way that the dew can be kept to a minimum.
