第30回重要刀剣　太刀　一（法華）
南北朝　備後　二尺五寸三分

この太刀は板目に流れ肌を交じえて白け風立ち、ややねっとりとした肌合を呈し、刃は焼きの低い穏やかな直刃を焼いて、帽子は焼詰めるなど大和気質の窺われるもので、一見地味であるが味わい深いものである。「銃砲刀剣類登録証」には「閑院宮家旧蔵」と記載がある。
閑院宮は四世襲親王家の一つで、江戸中期に東山天皇の第六皇子・直仁親王が創設した宮家である。

Circa: Nambokucho 1330-1390

Nakago:Suriage, former Yasurime Sujikai formed sharp chisel cut, later horizontal Yokoyasuri chisel cut.
Yokoichimonji signed on bottom of Nakago. (horizontal Ichimonji)
Boshi: Suguha entering, Yakizume no Kaeri.
Sugata: Shinogizukuri, Iorimune, wide Mihaba, deep Sori,
Hamon: Suguba. Habakimoto toward up to the middle part showed Notareba with Konie.
Horimono: Both front and reverse had been original Naginata groove along with narrow Tsurebi which was done right after by this smith.

This Tachi was not only considered and papered Shochu Ichimonji by Kunzan (NBTHK).
Hozonkyokai explained on his Kunzan Hibisyo issed by him, but also listed in monthly Tokenbijyutsu magazine.
Soon after he passed away later admitted to Hokke Ichimonji.
At any rate, this is a good example of Nambokucho period of different version of Ichimonji School.
It is said to be once owned by Kaninnomiya(1704-1753) who was not the Emperor but fifth generation ahead of Emperor Meiji Tenno.
