Russia and the Red Army faced huge allegations of war crimes. These accusations included over 2 million German women aged 13 to 70 being raped. Even after the surrender, concentration camp prisoners remained helpless. In Bergen-Belsen, 13,000 prisoners perished post-liberation, and within six weeks of being freed, nearly 2,500 of the 33,000 survivors of Dachau also died.
