cap and tax debate: nuclear power

video thumbnail
Outlined in the Presidents Budget blueprint is a proposed cap-and-trade program that is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the price of carbon-based energy.

This new policy would impose a $626 billion tax on all Americans. However, its true cost is likely to be more than double -- potentially as high as $1.9 trillion over ten years. Any way you try and spin this green jobs or saving the planet it is still a tax on hardworking Americans.
For those convinced that the economy needed a trillion-dollar stimulus a month ago, it may be useful to point out that, according to the EPAs estimates, a cap-and-trade scheme alone will be responsible for a 2.5% contraction of our GDP. Conservative estimates say this will result in 1.5 million job losses by 2015.
