On the 14th of May Turkey holds its first presidential and parliamentary elections in five years. With a record turnout expected, President Erdogan’s hold over the office he has held since 2014, looks shaky. Voters point to high inflation, an inept response to the earthquake only 3 months ago and the move towards authoritarianism during his rule. How do we expect this to play out and what if anything do we expect to change in the next ten days?
