Day 9. Self-defense drills based on Taekwondo Kyorugi techniques

Hi everyone, it is day 9 of training in taekwondo and sharing Taekwondo stories.
We have studied taekwondo Kyorugi “sparring” and today, we will be learning about the applications of Taekwondo Kyorugi and related self-defense drills. In addition to that, we will explain the taekwondo competition rules and regulations as well as protective equipment so that you can understand better when you watch taekwondo matches on TV or Olympic.

1. The difference between martial arts versus sports
- Self-defense drills based on sparring
- Basic falling techniques
- Basic steps and maneuvers
- Pair drills & reaction drills

2. Taekwondo Competition Rules and Regulations
- 2 competitors
- Blue = Chong
- Red = Hong
- Rounds
- Each about 1-3 minutes long
- 30 second break in between
- Winner by points or knock-out

3. Point System
- 1 point: punch
- 2 points: body kicks
- +2 for spin kick
- 3 points: head kick
- +2 for spin kick
- Gam-jeoms: point deductions
- Falling
- Out of bounds
- Display of illegal
