During its final public meeting Monday, the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol recommended the Justice Department pursue criminal charges against former President Donald Trump related to his alleged efforts to thwart the transfer of presidential power. The recommended charges include obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
