Rodrigo Rodríguez performs "The Song of the Woodcutters" 南部 木 挽 唄 belonging to the Minyō (Folk Song) repertoire.
Rodrigo plays a Shakuhachi tuned to 432 Hz, which was the tuning used in ancient Japan before the arrival of Western influence. This instrument played by Rodrigo is made from a 143-year-old madake bamboo. The Shakuhachi Maker acquired it in a old ancient house and recycled the bamboo to later make this special shakuhachi.
"The Song of the Lumberjacks" 南部 木 挽 唄 originates from Iwate prefecture in northern Japan.
