4km virtual forest trail hike - Suitable for treadmill walks or runs. Lautenthal, Harz, Germany

video thumbnail
The location of the video is the Bielstein in Lautenthal, western side of the Harz, a low mountain range in northern germany.

The hike starts at the Wolfgang-Spring, following a trail downhill to a forest playground.
From there it leads along the mountain side to the Beautiful View, a resting place for hikers with a panoramic view of Lautenthal. Next we follow a beaten track uphill through the forest, ending at an even more beautiful panoramic view of Lautenthal. Using an alternate route, the hike then leads back to the Wolfgang-Spring, our starting point.

Enjoy this unintrusive 4km long virtual hike through nature and use it as fitness motivation for your walk at home, your treadmill workout or your elliptical- or crosstrainer.
This video has been recorded with a cadence of 120 steps per minute. You can adjust the pace to your personal preferences. Youtube now provides custom speed settings in 5% steps, besides the 1.25/1.5x acceleration. A 5% speed-up adds six steps per minute, which makes it easy to adjust the video speed to your treadmill or crosstrainer speed.
Synchronizing to the animated metronome isn't necessary, but it will smooth out the watching experience.

As there is no music in my videos the recorded audio works very well for higher video speeds. The best experience for the virtual hike will be listening to your individually preferred music anyways.

Together with the hike from Lautenthal to Wildemann, the Winter Hike in Wildemann and the hike from Wildemann to Bad Grund now there are around 26km of directly connected tours, almost all in UHD quality, available.

Browser-Addons for precise individual cadence settings:
Video Speed Controller for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-speed-controller/nffaoalbilbmmfgbnbgppjihopabppdk
Video Speed Controller for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/videospeed/

Dividing your desired number of steps per minute by 120 will return the factor to use.
E.g., if you prefer a running speed of 168 steps per minute instead of a fast walk, the factor would be 164/120 = 1.37
