Fighting statelessness with the power of community | Christiana Bukalo | TEDxTUM

video thumbnail
Statelessness affects up to 15 million people around the world, including Christiana Bukalo. The causes are manifold, and the consequences, ranging from the inability to travel to the lack of basic human rights, are potentially devastating. With the intent of changing this narrative, Christiana Bukalo shares her story and calls for change through a new platform for open dialogue. Christiana Bukalo is the founder of Statefree e.V, an organization that aims to build a community and provide a platform for stateless people around the world. Following an unsuccessful and burdensome trip to Morocco, she decided not to let her emotions get the best of her and to make it her mission to change the system. Striving for equal opportunities for participation and holistic inclusion, Christiana calls for a global conversation with authorities, civil society actors, fellow activists and advocates. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
