05. Nobody's Fault But Mine - Led Zeppelin [1979-08-11 - Live at Knebworth]

Considering my interest on Led Zeppelin has became bigger recently, i decided to go on uploading bootlegs! This show was requested by ZeppelinsPresence, and i think it's a pretty fitting upload since i recently revisited that AWESOME Copenhaguen show! Anyway, what we can tell is the quality is excellent this time (since it comes froma soundboard recording) and we have all the songs recorded without cuts!

The band sounds much tighter overrall in comparision with the first show, and Plant in particular is in fantastic voice (even though he as usual for this era sounds much more mature) throghout, rarely cracking or giving out during the songs! The show would be perfect if wasn't by one single person: JIMMY. He starts off the show in top form, but due "some" reason he starts to mess up badly some songs later in (Achilles Last Stand being the worst offender) making for a very uneven listening experience! But the rest of the band (Bonzo and Jonesy are in top form as usual) makes up for his failures, and i honestly think you shouldn't skip this show anyway! Now, let's talk about the whole thing....

The Song Remains The Same sounds great, and much better than on the previous show (Page solos are more precise and Plant sings it much better), Celebration Day has somes off moments from Page, but Plant's performance makes up for that, Black Dog sounds awesome, and the crowd participation is plus to the performance, Nobody's Fault But Mine is a flawless version, Over The Hills And Far Away isn't perfect, since there's some technical problems with Plant's microphone and Page's guitar (he actually breaks a string at the end of the song), Misty Mountain Hop features Page having some trouble playing with the 1977 RD Artist guitar (since the Les Paul string was being fixed) but Plant's and Jonesy's performances make up for that, Since I've Been You is epic and nearly faultless (Jimmy hits one or two bad chords but that's it), No Quarter is perhaps the best 1979 version, the instrumental section even resembles some past performances in comparision with the other shortened renditions of the year, plus Plant's is pretty strong (though he cracks once throghout), Hot Dog is a sound performance, The Rain Song sounds pretty strong (even though i'm not the foundest with Jonesy's GX1 synthesizer).

White Summer isn't the best (Page hits some bum notes on his guitar), Kashmir is a solid rendition, Trampled Underfoot sounds good, i'd take other versions (both on this year, and in general) over this one, Sick Again has better performances from Page, but Plant at least sings it well, Achilles Last Stand is one of the worst versions ever of the song as Page is out of tune during most of 50% of the performance, really distracting the listening experience by a point. On the other hand, Plant and Bonzo's deliveries are spot on. In The Evening has a brillant Plant vocal, but Jimmy did had better performances of the still-to-be-realeased ITOTOD song, Stairway To Heaven has Page struggling a bit during the guitar solo (and even during the other parts of it) but as the usual for this show, Plant sings it well, Rock And Roll is a pretty energetic performance, Whole Lotta Love has Jimmy fucking up the song in spots, wich makes this version not the best (on a good side, the Boogie Children section is featured for the first time since the last MSG '73 show, plus Plant nails the vocals), and Communication Breakdown isn't the best by far but still closes the show properly. Enjoy the show!!

- This concert features the band's final performances of The Song Remains The Same, Celebration Day, Over The Hills And Far Away, Misty Mountain Hop, No Quarter and Sick Again (TSRTS, MMH and NQ would be performed on future reunions, but nothing like Bonzo on drums honestly :P )

- Before Stairway To Heaven, someone on the crowd shouts "happy birthday Robert!". Our favourite singer responds, amused "Not yet, one week!" LOL.
