An Inclusive Innovation for Early Detection of Breast Cancer | Mihir Shah | TEDxGateway |
|
In India, it's estimated that one in 28 women will get breast cancer during their lifetimes. Sadly, the condition is often not diagnosed until it's too late. Engineer Mihir Shah is developing a small, portable device that helps local health workers screen women for the disease quickly, wherever they are. Learn how it works -- and why it matters. Mihir Shah is passionate to address global health disparities affecting the many with the power of scalable, affordable engineering and innovation. He is the founder of UE Lifesciences, a Philly based med-tech company bringing early detection of breast cancer to over a billion women globally. Mihir is a previous TED speaker and he teaches entrepreneurship in biomedical engineering as an adjunct faculty at Drexel University's School of Biomedical Engineering. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
