Toronto's point guard just set the franchise record for assists in a single game when he recorded 20 against the Charlotte Hornets on April 2, 2023. This passed the previous record of 19 held by Damon Stoudamire, Jose Calderon, and Kyle Lowry. VanVleet also became the third player to ever record a 20-20 game for the Raptors after Popeye Jones and Chris Bosh who managed the feat twice.

This amazing game was yet another indication of the player's impact on the Raptors and with his contract expiring at the end of the season the pressure is on Masai Ujiri's front office to pay up or find a suitable replacement at point guard.
