Enduring Activity: 2021 Pediatric Grand Rounds
“Palliative Care and Pediatrics: What the pediatrician needs to know” Target Audience This activity is targeted toward all general pediatric physicians and pediatric subspecialists in the community. Statement of Need Pediatric grand rounds provide physicians a continuous update on emerging trends in caring for the pediatric patient, including new scientific discoveries that provide the underpinning of current pediatric practice. This activity will inform physicians about other issues involving professionalism, socioeconomic issues, and topics related to the ACMGE core competencies. Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 1) Review what pediatric palliative care is and is not; 2) Explore current literature on general pediatrics training in palliative care; 3) Discover parental experiences and preferences at end of life and regarding general pediatrician involvement; 4) Present a brief highlight of high yield palliative topics for the non-ICU pediatrician; 5) Highlight community resources available to families and physicians regarding palliative care.
