500 years ago, Machiavelli wrote "It is better to be feared than to be loved" when referring to leadership. I believe that when we observe organizations and corporate environments even now in 2020, we see things happening and taking place that just don't look or feel right, specifically behavior from one human to another.

And yet, we let it slide, but why? My stance has been, and always will be that the janitor deserves as much respect as the CEO and that power is not given, but rather earned as a matter of respect.

I also believe that the best organizations run an "Inspiration based" model as opposed to a "fear based" model, and instead of looking for ways to cut and fire people, they look for ways to get the most out of their employees by inspiring them and creating an environment where they can thrive and be the best versions of themselves.

If you're able to lead by way of inspiration, I salute you because that is an extremely difficult thing to achieve. It's easier to scare people and threaten their employment, right? The best leaders will earn respect because they are getting in the trenches with their people and consider themselves in servitude as opposed to being someone's "boss."
