Remie embarks on a journey to recognise the positive and negative ways in which social media has impacted our lives in the 21st century. As a curious student, Remie explores the interaction of social media use amongst her friends, relates social media addiction to the larger social context and concludes by suggesting ways we can lessen the influence of social media on our behaviour. Remie is a 15 year old student looking to bring about change in the Shrewsbury community, her numerous passions and interests -- be it watching movies, reading and cooking -- can all be associated with the internet, whether it's so find recipes or look for new books and movies. The crossover between her interests and the internet has led her to embark on the journey to learn more about how social media has had an impact on others and her generation This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
