EVERETT, Wash. — Newly-released body camera videos show the early investigation into the disappearance of Ariel Garcia, the 4-year-old boy from Everett who prosecutors allege was killed by his mother Janet Garcia in March.

Janet Garcia is awaiting trial in Snohomish County where she's charged with murder for stabbing her son dozens of times and then leaving his body on the side of I-5, according to court filings. The murder happened within days of Janet Garcia's mother attempting to get custody of Ariel due to the family's concerns about Janet's behavior while under the influence of drugs.
