Detroit, Michigan, September 22, 2013 --Good Morning Michigan show on US Arab Radio on WNZK 690 from 8-9 a.m. EST hosted an exclusive interview with The Citizen's leading star, Khaled Nabawy and director Sam Kadi hosted by Laila Alhusini and Sameh Elhady on Monday, Sept. 23.
3K Pictures, in association with Monterey Media, is pleased to announce the theatrical release of the Michigan-made feature film, "THE CITIZEN," on Friday, September 27 in Detroit and other selected cities. Directed and co-written by Detroit area resident Sam Kadi, the film was produced, financed, and shot predominantly in Detroit and outlying areas. Featuring an international cast, the film stars Khaled Nabawy ("Fair Game"), the biggest film star in Egypt, as a Lebanese man who, anxious to live in America, wins the American green card lottery and arrives in New York City on September 10, 2001. He soon encounters first hand adversities that challenge his ideals and pursuit of the American Dream during the nation's most challenging time in recent history. For a trailer, please click here. "The Citizen" also stars Cary Elwes ("The Princess Bride"), Agnes Bruckner ("The Anna Nicole Smith Story"), William Atherton ("Die Hard") and Rizwan Manji (NBC's "Outsourced"). The film will be open in Detroit at the Emagine Theatres in Novi and Canton, and at the Birmingham 8 Theatre. Egyptian star Khaled Nabawy managed to quickly grab audiences attention and film critics respect through his choice of material, following his discovery by famous director, Youssef Chahine. He presented Khaled as the Hollywood's way in making stars, he put him in the best view and allowed the camera to love him. Khaled has already played comedian, dramatic and villain roles. He is a cinema lover, working about 12 hours daily to reach the role's depth. El Nabawy attended the Institute of Performing Arts. He lives in Cairo, Egypt. His roles in Hollywood include Mullah, the first advisor to Saladin, portrayed by Ghassan Massoud in the blockbuster film Kingdom of Heaven. He also played the role of Hamed, an Iraqi scientist in the film Fair Game. Sam Kadi is a Syrian American movie director living in Michigan who attended Motion Picture Institute of Michigan in Troy. He has made many successful short films including "Raised Alone" which won eight awards and six other nominations. |
