Trump launches gold high top sneaker line a day after $350m court ruling

Donald Trump, the former US president, has introduced his own brand of sneakers just a day after a judge in New York ordered him to pay $354.9 million in fines for lying about his net worth to deceive lenders.

"I've been wanting to do this for a long time," Trump expressed during the unveiling of his inaugural Trump footwear at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia. This event is renowned as the "The Greatest Sneaker Show on Earth."

The announcement stirred a mixed reaction from the crowd, with loud cheers and boos echoing through the venue, according to Associated Press. Additionally, the atmosphere occasionally carried the scent of marijuana. Attendees at the event were notably younger and more diverse compared to Trump's typical rally audience, as noted by the news wire.

The new shoes are bright and shiny, sporting gold high tops with an American flag design on the back. They're marketed as "Never Surrender High-Tops" and are priced at $399 on a freshly launched website. This site also offers Trump-branded Victory47 cologne and perfume for $99 per bottle. The name "Victory47" hints at Trump potentially being the 47th president if re-elected.

Despite claims of no affiliation with Trump's campaign, online posts from Trump campaign officials suggest otherwise.

Trump responded strongly to Justice Arthur Engoron's ruling, which demanded him, his eldest sons, and associates to pay over $354.9 million plus interest for committing financial fraud over a decade. Speaking at a campaign rally in Michigan, Trump labeled the decision as an "election interference ploy" and accused the judge of being part of a "left-wing" conspiracy to prevent his return to the presidency. He asserted that such actions were not just against him but against all Americans.

Furthermore, Trump reiterated his false claim that his defeat in the 2020 election to Democratic President Joe Biden was due to electoral fraud.

Engoron additionally barred Trump from holding any officer or director positions in New York corporations for three years, criticizing Trump and his co-defendants for their lack of remorse, stating that it bordered on pathological.

Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, accused Trump and his family businesses of inflating his net worth by as much as $3.6 billion annually for over ten years to deceive bankers into offering him better loan terms.

In addition to this, Trump is facing four criminal trials at both state and federal levels, including one set to commence in New York on March 25th, concerning alleged hush money payments to a pornographic film actress. This will mark Trump as the first former US president to face trial on criminal charges.

Trump spoke shortly after Nikki Haley, his last competitor for the Republican presidential nomination, who held an event in South Carolina.

Following Friday's ruling, Haley wasted no time in criticizing Trump. She often remarks that "chaos" trails Trump and argues that his numerous legal troubles render him ineffective as a president or candidate.

"He's going to be in court March and April. He's going to be in court May and June. He said himself that he's going to be spending more time in a courtroom than he is on the campaign trail," Haley remarked in an interview with Fox News on Saturday morning.

Trump is close to securing the Republican presidential nomination, paving the way for a potential rematch with Biden. Recent wins in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada bolster his position.

Despite trailing in polls, Haley persists in her campaign, particularly in South Carolina, where the primary is on February 24th.

At a rally, Haley criticized Trump for his silence on Navalny's death. Navalny died in a Russian prison, with Western leaders blaming Putin.

Haley accused Trump of supporting Putin, citing his recent remarks. She labeled Putin a "thug" for eliminating political opponents.
