Dawn Following Disqualification - May 4, 2019 |
|
One might suspect that a channel as "Cutting Edge" as 'A Day In The Year' would somehow find a way to get in on the history of the day, if, in fact, History is made on that particular day. Well, history was indeed made, in the world of horse racing. As you may or may not know, the first Saturday in May is the first race in Horse Racing's Triple Crown; The Kentucky Derby, widely considered the most famous horse race. (Horses first and foremost, must be 3 years old, their widely accepted prime, to be in the race; the other Tripke Crown races, the Preakness and the Belmont, as well. Also, as my Ex-wife was born in and grew-up around Louisville, where the race is held, I, myself, have been to the Derby, and it is a wild, unforgettable experience. ) Never before, has the winner been disqualified. But today, following a bumping/obstructing incident in the race's final turn, the First Place finishing horse, Maximum Security, was eventually disqualified following a long deliberation by the judges (who watched seemingly endless replays of the chaos in the final turn) and Second Place finisher and one of the victims of the chaos, Country House, was declared the winner of the 145th Kentucky Derby.
Now, the "tangential" (You be the judge.) connection of 'Day in the Year' to this history-making event (And, I admit, it is a stretch.😉); the previous video titled 'TGIF' was pulled from publication at the last minute due to "Uncomfortable Narration." What that means I was not comfortable with something I said during my usual narration of 'Day's' videos. 'TGIF...' was, thus "Disqualified,' and today's previously unscheduled, dawn video, 'Dawn Following Disqualification,' has been entered in TGIF's place. And so, on the day of history-making disqualification at the Kentucky Derby, 'A Day In The Year 2019 had a disqualification, also. Go figure. |
