'Preparing new proposal': Tuchel readying big bid for 'amazing' player, he only wants to join Chelsea - Romano

Chelsea are reportedly preparing their next big bid for Leicester City star Wesley Fofana.

According to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Chelsea are getting ready to make a new offer for Leicester’s 21-year-old defender.

It is understood the Blues will submit a bid worth £75million, but they’re still working out the add-ons structure.

Romano insists that the French centre-back only has eyes on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s squad definitely needs another recruit at the back before next week’s deadline day, and they’re still pushing for Leicester’s super talent.

Described as “amazing” by Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, Fofana looks like a rising talent destined for the top.

He’s a tenacious centre-half with real aggression, speed and power. The defender appears to have recovered really well from a long-term injury, too.

Chelsea’s links to signing him have been ever-present in the last couple of weeks, and Thomas Tuchel’s side are reportedly frustrated that a deal still hasn’t been finalised.

Fofana was left out of Leicester’s game last weekend in defeat to Southampton. In addition, Rodgers has confirmed the Foxes star won’t be involved in the match day squad during Saturday’s league fixture away to Chelsea.

If you look at the current state of the Blues squad, everything is in place for Fofana to come in and hit the ground running.

The fact Reece James has been playing out of position in a centre-back role suggests Tuchel wants a new starting centre-half.

It’s easy to picture him slotting into the line-up on the right of a back three, with Thiago Silva playing alongside him as the perfect mentor.

Chelsea are ready to spend big on getting a deal for Fofana over the line, so the youngster should feel proud and desperate to show how good he really is.
