Amanda Gorman is an American poet and activist whose work revolves around the issues of feminism, marginalization of minorities, and the African-American experience. She had published her first book, a poetry collection titled The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough, in 2015, at the age of just 17. She was selected as the youth poet laureate of Los Angeles in 2014 and was the first person to be named ‘National Youth Poet Laureate’ in 2017. Amanda became an overnight sensation in January 2021 when she performed a poem titled The Hill We Climb, at the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States. She was the youngest poet in history to have read at a presidential inauguration in the US. Post the event, she had 2 works slated for a September 2021 release – a poetry collection titled The Hill We Climb and a youth project titled Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem.
