International speaker series: Behaviour change in climate adaptation and mitigation |
|
We’re back in Europe for our next session, joining Professor Tatiana Filatova in the Netherlands to look at the role of behaviour change in climate action, and what drives people’s decisions to mitigate or adapt to climate change.
Professor Filatova is a behavioural economist whose team collects data on households’ pro-environmental choices, uses location to understand the relationship between the choices, and examines how social institutions evolve in line with behaviour changes. She has also been gathering behavioural information on both flooding and droughts to examine social tipping points in moves to transformational adaptation or mitigation policies. Tatiana’s work looks at policies and the outcomes of individual decisions in the context of sustainability and climate change. Her research explores how behaviour changes may lead to shifts in complex and established systems, focused on climate change and climate-resilient development. Tatiana is Professor of Computational Economics at Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) and University of Technology Sydney (Australia), and serves as the Academic Lead of the Climate Change Governance Theme of the TU Delft Climate Action Programme. Climate change is a global challenge. This is the ninth in our series of open Zoom sessions with international experts who have been leading climate action in their respective jurisdictions. |
