Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure performed in our office. With guidance from ultrasound, a catheter is inserted into the vein and thermal energy is applied. Local anesthesia means you will feel no or little discomfort as the vein collapses. This procedure is approved by the Federal Drug Administration for treatment of the great saphenous vein — the longest vein in your body, running the length of each leg — and other large veins.
