第18回 特別重要刀剣　刀　無銘　兼光
鎌倉末期　備前　二尺二寸三分

この刀は豪壮な体配に板目に杢が交じり、地沸が微塵に厚くつき、地景入り、乱れ映りが立ち、刃文は中直刃調に角互の目・片落ち風の刃等が交じり、総じて逆がかり、足・逆足・葉がさかんに入り、匂口がしまりごころに小沸がついている。
地刃共に頗る健全で、同作極めの中でも出色の出来栄えを示し、貫禄充分の作である。

Tokubetsu Juyo Token ,Katana:”Mumei Kanemitsu”
Nagasa: 67.7cm ,Sori: 1.7cm
Circa: late Kamakura
Nakago:Osuriage moved up fairly much, Katte Sagari file mark down toward right hand Munemachi side.
Sugata: Sinogizukuri, Iorimune.
Mihaba: wide and strong.3.05cm
Jigane: Itame mixed Moku deeply covered Nie, Chikei complicated Utsuri
(Yakiire quenching steams running into Hada).
Hamon: Suguba pattern followed Kataochi Gunome overall slightly backward angle. Ashi, Sakaashi backward angle toward the edge of temper line. Kinsuji, Sunagashi(quenching steam running into covered clay) Nie covered tightened sharp bright Nioi along with Kinsuji, Sunagashi.

Kanemitsu is the son of Kagemitsu who is not only famous outstanding late Kamakura to Nambokucho period of the heightened Bizen forging history also fulfilling surplus of the great demand and necessity for the historically well known incident among Mongol, Chine and Japan.

Those War drawn into the achievement of Japanese Sword Industrial Revolution.
This Katana expressed typical late Kamakura to beginning of Nambokucho style which showed strong sturdy and yet very gracefully attractive catching eye work of art. One of his best of work of all:Regarding to the Tokubetsu Juto Zufu.
