Liga, the 3rd german tier, for the 2021/22 season. Halfway through the season he managed to impress the coaching staff and become a regular sub. Fast forward to this season and he saw a huge upgrade in minutes and duties, right now is objectively the club’s best prospect. Plays as one of 2 holding midfielders, being the team organizer while in possession, the member of the midfield who stays deep to help the team circulate the ball or win it back. Calm with good game reading skills, very useful in the first build up phase as he knows well how to preserve possession, choosing well when to get the ball forward when building from the back and showing he got what it takes to dictate the tempo. Moves behind of the first line of pressure to get open and plays mostly lateral and simple passes to ensure quick shifts of play, prioritizing keeping the ball in possession. With good technique and first touch plus terrific composure, although he plays deep, he likes to break the press with his dribble, using his body quite well to rotate over opponents and using feints to punish overactive pressers, he’s got a classy touch that make him quite entertaining to watch, somewhat reminiscent of De Jong. Not the best at defending but quite productive, being very aggressive on his challenges while having an appropriate positioning as well as choosing the right timing to press the ball carrier, unfortunately let down by his subpar tackling and lack in positional adjustments when attracted out of position. It's noticeable that he spent most of his career in more advanced spots, perhaps his lack of speed and good on the ball characteristics motivated his adaptation to more deep areas, his lack of experience on those positions get the best of him at times, but his hardworking and sophisticated playstyle do fit the criteria, while he still isn’t very impactful on the game yet, it’s safe to assume he could become quite the playmaker. Maybe Caspar doesn’t show world class potential, but he’s a deeply interesting and entertaining player, the type that usually becomes fan favorite. I don’t expect him to become a national team player, but I can see him reaching Bundesliga level and having a decent career. #CasparJander #Duisburg #scouting |
