Chasing the Wrong Lead | Dirk Philipsen | TEDxDuke |
|
Most people think that growth is good. Around the world, societies have hitched their hopes for progress and development to that idea, but a prosperous future for the world's children demands smarter goals and metrics--from quantity to quality, from more to better.
Dirk is an Associate Research Professor of Economic History at the Sanford School. His work is focused on sustainability, economic performance indicators, and the history of capitalism. He also explores what a wellbeing economy could look like. His musings on the wellbeing economy are published in the book "The Little Big Number." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx |
