Guo Jia (郭嘉), courtesy name Fengxiao (奉孝) was an adviser to the warlord Cao Cao during the late Eastern Han Dynasty of China. Throughout his 11 years of service, Guo Jia aided Cao Cao greatly with his brilliance and foresight, and his strategies were instrumental to Cao Cao's victories over rival warlords such as Lü Bu and Yuan Shao. For example, four years before Cao Cao's decisive victory over Yuan Shao at the Battle of Guandu, Guo Jia already foresaw that Cao Cao would win when he pointed out ten advantages Cao Cao had over Yuan Shao.

Unfortunately, Guo Jia died too young at the age of 37 in Year 207. When Cao Cao lost the Battle of Chibi (or Battle of Red Cliffs), he sighed "If only Guo Jia was still alive..." Guo Jia was one of the best strategists in Cao Wei. Had he lived longer, the Wei Dynasty would have been founded sooner (as seen in DW8's Wei Hypothetical Route).

Guo Jia is one of my favourite characters to use in the franchise. Fans may put him at the top, but oh well... I still like him for his intelligence. Weapon-wise in DW9 Empires, what can I say? His R1 Stun attack is, let's just say, cheap. Like you can juggle your enemies forever with that move lol. But of course, it comes with the cost of low damage if you were to juggle with Guo Jia. I do like his Special Attack and Musous, there's nothing to complain about. I think it's safe to put him at B+ Tier (move set) though. Like even when you juggle your enemies with one move, you won't subdue them too quickly, which isn't ideal for speedrunning. If he had more destructive moves, then I'd put him higher. But it's solid. I'd pick him again. I like his staff.


People may like his personality, others may not, but at the end of the day, we all have our opinions. For instance, some people may not like the way Guo Jia seduces the ladies, and also his love for wine. I totally get it, say no more. Even so, I still value his intelligence when it comes to selecting Musou Officers in my Squadron.
