In this video, Togakure-ryu Shuko Climbing Skills, I explain why, every year, at the Annual Daikomyosai and the Annual Ninja Stealth Camp that we always start the camps with various ninja climbing drills.

Historically speaking, the ninja had to be good at climbing to be able to infiltrate and do the things that they do. Just using historical records alone, like the Bansenshukai, Ninpiden and Shoninki, there are more climbing references / climbing tools, than there are combative / fighting techniques. Yet we are the only ninjutsu organization that continues to train in these authentic methods of ninjutsu - year after year.

I understand that the majority of schools are sell-outs and are only concerned with making money, so they hand our high rank to people that do not deserve it. They give them rank because the students give them money. Here, at the Budo Ryu Kai, we are not a sell-out black belt mill that hands out rank. Here, you earn what you get. If you cannot take the physical training, than you can leave and go to another organization that will pamper you and give you what you want.

Here, at the Budo Ryu Kai, we do more than just read books and scrolls. We take the knowledge from the historical scrolls, densho and makimono and apply repetition of physical training to truly understand and master the essence of historical ninjutsu.

This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).
