Think the unthinkable -- a level scientific playing field | Eric Chen | TEDxOrangeCoast

video thumbnail
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A young prodigy, Eric Chen shares with confidence and fresh innocence on how we can now all be breakthrough researchers, as long as we believe we can.

Eric Chen is a college student at Harvard, planning on studying math. He began performing research at the age of 15, and his work focuses on combining computer models and biological assays to speed up the discovery of new anti-influenza drugs. For this work he was the grand prize winner of the Google Science Fair, the Siemens Competition, and the Intel Science Talent Search. He has always felt fortunate to fall in love with science early on, and thus also leads outreach efforts to get more younger students interested and involved in the science through hands-on experience. He has been able to start new science fair programs at a number of schools, many underprivileged, and give hundreds of kids the opportunity to try research

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
